Vote for your favorite D&Q authors in the 2025 Harvey and Ignatz Awards!

Drawn & Quarterly congratulates Rachel Ang, Chester Brown, Tara Booth, Guy Delisle, Michael D. Kennedy, Jason Lutes, María Medem, and Keiler Roberts on their respective nominations in the Harvey and Ignatz Awards!

The Harvey Awards are one of the comic industry’s oldest and most prestigious awards. Recognizing outstanding achievement in multiple categories, the Harvey’s have been a fixture of the comic industry since 1988. The Harveys welcomes professionals from across the comic book industry to vote on this year’s awards. This means all professional creators – writers, artists, colors, letterers, designers and editors – as well as publishing professionals, comic book retailers, and librarians. Apply to vote in the Harveys here! Voting in the Harvey Awards closes on September 2. This year D&Q fêtes three nominees:


Guy Delisle’s Muybridge (translated by Helge Dascher and Rob Aspinall) is nominated for Best International Book.

Meanwhile, Chester Brown and Jason Lutes are both nominated for Best Adaptation from Comic Book/Graphic Novel. Paying For It, directed by Sook-yin Lee and adapted for the screen by Brown from his memoir about being a john, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2024, and has since made the rounds on the international film festival circuit to much acclaim. Berlin: The Play ran at the Court Theatre in Chicago, Illinois from April 19th to May 18th earlier this year. It was directed by Charles Newell and adapted for the stage by Mickle Maher from Lutes’s Eisner, Harvey and Ringo Award-winning graphic novel.

The Ignatz Awards, named for the character in the classic comic strip Krazy Kat by George Herriman, is the festival prize of the Small Press Expo. Since 1997, the Ignatz Awards have recognized outstanding achievement in comics and cartooning. The Ignatz recognizes exceptional work that challenges popular notions of what comics can achieve, both as an art form and as a means of personal expression. Voting for this award is open to the public, request your ballot here. Voting in the Ignatz Awards closes on September 12 at 8pm Eastern. This year D&Q fêtes five nominees:

Rachel Ang’s I Ate the Whole World to Find You, Michael D. Kennedy’s Milk White Steed, and Keiler Roberts’s Preparing to Bite are all nominated for Outstanding Collection.

Eisner winner Tara Booth’s Processing: 100 Comics That Got Me Through It and critically acclaimed newcomer María Medem’s Land of Mirrors (translated by Aleshia Jensen and Daniela Ortiz) are both nominated for Outstanding Graphic Novel.
