USA Today Pop Candy gives Pippi and My Dirty Dumb Eyes Best of 2013 nods

Today I'm excited to continue our "Best of 2013" feature with a list of my favorite comics and graphic novels of the year.

Unlike some sites, I don't claim to have the "definitive" list of anything — I can only read so much! If you see a book I left out that you enjoyed, I'd love to hear about it.

7. Pippi Fixes Everything written by Astrid Lindgren, illustrated by Ingrid Vang Nyman. I'm so happy Drawn & Quarterly decided to translate these vintage kids' comics and package them for new generations. The stories are funny and mischievous and, like much classic fare, ahead of their time.

4. My Dirty Dumb Eyes by Lisa Hanawalt. One of my favorite cartoonists finally releases a collection of her work. If you like sex, illustrated movie reviews and animal heads atop human bodies, this one has your name all over it!
