It’s been another excellent year at Drawn & Quarterly, and with nearly thirty books to show for it too!
We had the absolute pleasure of bringing you the latest from your all-time favorite D&Q authors like Chester Brown (Paying For It: The Film Edition), Adrian Tomine (Shortcomings: A Screenplay and Q&A), and Chris Ware (Acme Novelty Date Book: Vol.3).
We published exciting debuts from Tara Booth (Processing), Nino Bulling (Firebugs), Sig Burwash (Vera Bushwack), Freddy Carrasco (GLEEM) and Edward Steed (Forces of Nature). We even published a few kids and YA books this year from Travis Dandro (Winnie-the-Pooh), Aminder Dhaliwal (A Witch’s Guide to Burning), and Elise Gravel (Club Microbe, translated by Montana Kane).
We brought back a number of D&Q classics in paperback from Lynda Barry (What It Is), Kevin Huizenga (Curses), Tove Jansson and Lars Jansson (Moomin Adventures: Book One), Chris Oliveros (Are You Willing to Die for the Cause?) and Leanne Shapton (The Native Trees of Canada). Our manga and manhwa authors Keum Suk Gendry-Kim (Dog Days, translated by Janet Hong), Shigeru Mizuki (Yokai: The Art of Shigeru Mizuki, translated by Zack Davisson), Yamada Murasaki (Second Hand Love, translated by Ryan Holmberg), Yoshiharu Tsuge (Oba Electroplating Factory, also translated by Holmberg) all made comebacks in 2024, as did art world darlings Marc Bell (Raw Sewage Science Fiction) and Walter Scott (The Wendy Award).
Other highlights include the latest from Marguerite Abouet and Clément Oubrerie (Aya: Claws Come Out, translated by Edwige Renée-Dro), Julie Delporte (Portrait of a Body, translated by Helge Dascher and Karen Houle), Luke Healy (Self-Esteem and the End of the World), and Mirion Malle (So Long Sad Love, translated by Aleshia Jensen). And last—but very, very far from least—we also celebrated the continuing legacy of our wonderful friends at Giant Robot with a book celebrating their 30th anniversary featuring work from the likes of Margaret Cho, Randall Park and Jia Tolentino.
