
Tove Jansson and Lee Lai featured in Queer as Comics at Quentin Blake Centre!
Tove Jannson and Lee Lai will be featured in Queer as Comics, one of the inaugural exhibits at the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration in London, which opens in May 2026.
Queer as Comics traces comics, strip cartoons, graphic novels and zines that have represented LGBTQIA+ perspectives since the 1940s. From the UK’s first published gay comic strip and the first gay Black superhero, to today’s self-publishing scenes and webcomics, this is an exhibition of trailblazers, including D&Q authors Tove Jansson and Lee Lai.

Tickets will be available in April, the centre opens in May, and the exhibit will be on view through October.
