CBR covers Beverly Animates Series

Beverly, the satirical Drawn & Quarterly graphic novel written and illustrated by Nick Drnaso, is being adapted into an animated series at Erik Feig's production company, Picturestart.

Per Deadline, Picturestart has acquired the rights to Beverly and is developing it into an animated series, which would be the company's first animated production. Sarah DeLappe -- the playwright behind The Wolves, a 2017 Pulitzer Prize finalist -- had been tapped to write the adaptation, and will executive produce alongside Drnaso. Ryan Lindenberg and Julia Hammer will oversee the project for Picturestart.

Published by Drawn & Quarterly in 2016, Beverly is a graphic novel that "presents a searing exploration of the sexual anxieties, social insecurities and cultural malaise of the American suburb as seen through the eyes of its teenage inhabitants," peeling back the "civilized facades to reveal the sardonic ironies, simmering tensions and outright violence lurking just beneath the surface." Beverly won the LA Times Book Prize for Best Graphic Novel in 2017, with Drnaso's follow-up title -- 2018's Sabrina -- becoming the first graphic novel to be nominated for the Man Booker Prize.

No casting information Picturestart's Beverly is currently available, nor has the series been given an official release window.
