Arizona in conversation with Nantali Indongo on CBC Listen!
The Bridge
"Illustrator and author ARIZONA O'NEILL's debut memoire, 'ORGANS & OPIOIDS', is a graphic novel that recounts an untold part of her life: how she coped grieving the death of her estranged father. ARIZONA was 21 when the hospital called to tell her that her father had lost function of his brain due to an overdose of fentanyl. He was in his early 40s. As his next of kin, she makes the difficult decision of donating her father's organs.
In a cleverly-written and beautifully illustrated way, we follow Arizona as she investigates the history of organ transplants, and raises questions to society - and herself - about the stigmas around donors and especially, addicts."
