Celebrating 25 Years of Canadian Publisher Drawn & Quarterly!

As announced today via the Toronto Comic Arts Festival, Drawn & Quarterly is celebrating our 25th anniversary at TCAF 2015, this May 8-10! As part of the celebration, TCAF will be featuring D+Q with a Friday night gala event, a dedicated room for D+Q-centric programming, and almost twenty D+Q artists: first-time special guests Lynda Barry and Julie Doucet; TCAF annuals Chester Brown, Seth, Jillian Tamaki, Michael DeForge, and Kate Beaton; and returning favourites Adrian Tomine, Julie Delporte, Jason Lutes, Marc Bell, Anders Nilsen, Matt Forsythe, Pascal Girard, Keith Jones, John Porcellino, and R. Sikoryak.

We’ll be debuting seven titles, previewed below, including our 776-page historical tome and anthology, Drawn & Quarterly: 25 years of Contemporary Cartooning, Comics and Graphic Novels.

“Drawn & Quarterly and Publisher Chris Oliveros have been incredible supporters of TCAF since our humble beginnings in 2003,” said TCAF Festival Director Christopher Butcher. “For years they’ve worked to debut some of their biggest titles at TCAF, and to bring an incredible variety of Canadian and international authors to Toronto. Comics makers are so modest, and Canadian comics makers doubly so—I think publishing great comics for 25 years is an incredible achievement, and I’m glad we can shine the spotlight on D+Q and really celebrate this year.”

“When planning our 25th anniversary, it only made sense to kick off the celebration at TCAF as our histories are so intertwined,” said Peggy Burns, D+Q’s Associate Publisher. “But really, so many things make TCAF a great festival. From Chris Butcher and the Beguiling to the Reference Library, and most of all–the TCAF attendees, they are like no other festival’s.”
