Read Rolling Blackouts Sneak Peek! Watch Barzan!

    |

It’s officially Fall 2014, which means we are officially one year away from Sarah Glidden’s original graphic novel for D+Q, Rolling Blackouts. As she works diligently away finishing the book, check out this page from Rolling Blackouts where Sarah and journalists from the Seattle Globalist meet Sam Malkandi, an Iraqi Kurdish refugee who was awarded asylum in the U.S. only to be deported years later when he was accused of assisting a would-be Al Qaida operative.

And then after that, go to iTunes, Amazon or Cable VOD and watch the documentary which the Globalist produced from that reporting. BARZAN explores Sam’s life fleeing war, family tragedy and years of waiting in refugee camps before finally settling in Seattle, and investigates how a man so beloved by his new neighbors in the U.S. came to be seen as a threat to national security in a nation caught up in the frenzy of the War on Terror.

And then mark your calendars for Fall 2015!!!
