Kondō Yōko

Kondō Yōko was born in 1957 in Niigata, Japan. Her first comics were published in GARO Magazine when she was just 22 years old, and she has continued to work in gekiga, shojo, josei, and seinen manga over the past fifty years. Kondo worked as an assistant to Murasaki Yamada, and attended high school with Rumiko Takahashi. She has been nominated twice for the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, and received the Grand Prize at the Japan Media Arts Festival as well as the Excellence Prize of the Japan Cartoonists Association. Her comics have been translated into French, Italian, and Spanish. One Woman and the War is her first graphic novel to be translated into English
